Handpieces & The FDA - Is Your Practice At Risk?

We all love a good deal on dental tools & supplies, but are the liability and safety risks worth the initial savings?

According to the FDA, CDC & ADA, dental handpieces should meet specific safety and functional requirements in order to be used within the US. Not only does this protect your patients, but it also helps protect you, your staff and your practice.

A few great ways to determine if your handpieces are FDA cleared include:

  1. Use the FDA search tool: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfpmn/pmn.cfm

  2. Contact the manufacturer if you are still unsure.

  3. Contact the manufacturer if you suspect a handpiece may be a knock-off version of their brand. Many manufacturers can look up the serial number to determine if it is likely valid.

  4. Send us a message!
